Vacation

Sorry for the lack of post activity, I've been traveling quite a bit and haven't had the opportunity to post. I'll be back to a regular schedule this week. If you have any good beer stories from the past few weeks, leave them in the comments section. Also, if you want to see something specific written about, let me know.

Cheers,
Jesse

Just back from New Orleans, drank a whole lot of Abita. Preservation Pale Ale was the winner, a fantastic session ale, for outdoor drinking.

The Jacomo IPA, great on tap, great out of the bottle. Handles food nicely, especially the fried and creole.

Abita amber, although ubiquitous, was probably my least favorite.

NOLA has become a very decent beer geek city, with D.B.A.'s out-post carrying an impressive tap line-up, with an even more impressive bottle line-up. Highlights: Sierra Nevada Big Foot Barley wine, Chimay Tripel, Leffe Blonde, Rogue's chocolate stout and mocha porter. I also spent a little more for the Saison Dupont. Excellent, out in the delta sun.

We also ordered the Abita Andigator, a somewhat rare Helles. Worked out well paired with a fancy dinner of baked oysters, grilled shrimp, & BBQ salmon.

Disappointments: Crescent City Brewery/pub. Although the restaurant was nice, and the food looked good, the beers were thin, boring, and the sampler was like drinking 5 of the same beers, with different colors. A southern version of Heartland brewery, with even less impressive beers.
